Milk the movie
Last night I re-visited the Milk film. Had me in tears as it
did the first time I saw it.
With all the present media play of the political conventions that
are taking place this month - to see the miss-direction taking place, I find it
hard to maintain any believability in what is being promoted by the use of gilt
and glitter, smoke and mirrors and the black hole, for what is referred to as
political dialog.
Why is it that our generation had to witness the demise of so many
people that truly were and did, make change possible? Granted it was so
far removed from the false activities that are palmed off answers and solutions
today, when they are just covers for the continuous drumbeat of simple,
demeaning or camouflage, continuation of an existing process of
self-aggrandizement?
Maybe the answer can be found in the story of Milk.
There are great sections of this country that prefer the circus, the
games of chance, the hope of winning the lottery, the carrot at the end of the
stick.
Milk knew better.
